What an app from us includes.

One codebase for both phones, native where it counts and smooth on the phones people actually carry, built by senior people you talk to directly.

Platforms
iOS and Android from one React Native codebase, native where it counts. A simple app can be built for the web instead.
Design
Custom design and build around what the app has to do, reviewed as something that moves and behaves like the real thing, not a static mockup.
Scope
A simple app does one thing well: one core feature, built properly. The quickest way to put your idea in people's hands.
Integrations
Payments, identity checks, maps, messaging and the systems you already run, connected through their APIs so nobody re-keys anything.
Correctness
For money-critical apps: numbers that reconcile and an audit trail on every action. Priced to the problem, not to a bracket.
Timing
Apps are scoped on their own terms. The timeline is agreed alongside the fixed price, and you hear straight away if anything changes it.
Ownership
The repository, the hosting and every service account are set up in your name from day one.
After launch
Handover includes the keys and the documentation. Further changes on a simple retainer or quoted piece by piece, with no lock-in either way.

What an app costs.

One published starting point for a focused app, and a bespoke bracket for anything larger. Either way, one fixed price agreed after a short scoping call.

How pricing works

Our own product, on both phones and the web.

paytrader.net is PayTrader Ltd's own product: escrow for UK home-improvement work, on iOS, Android and the web. We designed it, built it and run it.

  • The paytrader.net app: a bathroom renovation with its four stages, the first released and the second held in escrow, and a button to review photos and approve the stage.
    The paytrader.net mark

paytrader.net: escrow that pays when the job is done

Our own product. Money for UK home-improvement work held safely until each stage of the job is confirmed, for homeowners and tradespeople. Mobile apps and a web platform, built so every balance reconciles and every movement leaves a trail.

    What we built

iOS and Android apps and a web platform from one design system: staged payments, a shared job timeline, and a ledger where every balance reconciles to the penny and every movement is auditable. The interface was designed in the browser and tested on the mid-range phones people actually carry.

Do you build mobile apps too?
Yes. iOS and Android from one codebase, native where it counts. A simple app with one core feature starts at £749; anything larger is scoped and quoted as a bespoke build.
How long does a project take?
For a simple site you will see a first draft within a few days and can be live inside a week. A more involved build with custom features or a dashboard takes up to a month. Apps and bespoke products are scoped on their own terms. Either way we agree the timeline alongside the fixed price and tell you straight away if anything changes it.
Who will I actually be working with?
The person writing the code. Codena is a small studio on purpose: senior people do the work, and you talk to them directly rather than to a layer of account management.
Who owns the code and the accounts?
You do, in full. The repository, the hosting, the domain and every service account are set up in your name from day one. If you ever want to take the work elsewhere, nothing is held hostage.
What happens after launch?
We ship, measure and stay close. Handover includes the keys and the documentation. For ongoing changes we agree a simple retainer or quote each piece of work; there is no lock-in either way.
Can you take over an existing site or app?
Often, yes. We start with a short review of what you have, tell you what is worth keeping, and quote the work from there. Sometimes the honest answer is a rebuild; we will say so if it is.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. We are a UK studio and work remotely with clients anywhere. Our working hours overlap Europe comfortably and the American east coast in the afternoon, and we arrange calls beyond that. Prices are set in pounds sterling and we can invoice in euros, US dollars or Australian dollars at the rate on the day. Contracts are under English law, and hosting is placed in the region your customers are in.
